You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers and will work on projects from the concept stage to transfer to the product development, with roughly a 50-50 split between laboratory and design work. Projects include laboratory instrumentation, prototyping concepts for the product and overseeing the product development.

Concept &
big picture

  • You collaborate with chemists, physicists, and other engineers to assess their requirements for laboratory instrumentation and compile specifications (e.G. chemical compatibility or the operating temperature and pressure of a reactor vessel).
  • You evolve a concept for the component or system and reviews with the science and engineering team
  • You develop and present a device concept including a P&
ID and estimates of physical properties of the system, such as fluid flows and thermal considerations.

Design

  • You create a detailed design based on the chosen concept.
  • You produce technical drawings and documents for manufacturing.
  • You maintain project documents, including process diagrams and bill of materials as required.
  • You prepare and conduct design reviews in collaboration with the science team, electrical engineers and automation engineers.

Prototyping, assembly and testing

  • You source all required components and communicate requirements to parts manufacturers.
  • You collaborate with electrical and automation engineers and assemble and test the prototype.
  • You work with the science team to commission the new prototype and assist with getting experiments started.

Technology transfer and product development

  • You transfer designs and knowledge to the product development team upon satisfactory performance of a module.
  • You provide technical knowledge and support in the development of the product version of the module.
  • You review design documents and participate in the verification and validation process.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

About us

NVision is a quantum biotech startup based in Ulm, Germany, with Tier 1 investors from Silicon Valley, Europe, and Israel. We are just leaving stealth mode, moving from local R&
D to global commercialization and expansion.
We are developing a technology that will enable MRI-based imaging of real-time metabolism in the body, with tremendous potential for research and applications in oncology, cardiology, neurology and more. Our company brings together expertise in physics, chemistry, engineering and medicine, and we are collaborating with scientists and clinicians from top medical and research centers such as Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, MD Anderson in Texas, Technical University of Munich, Cambridge University in the UK and more.
NVision is developing fast, robust and easy-to-use hyperpolarization technology for preclinical and clinical research in our Polaris product line. Those devices are placed close to an MRI scanner in a clinical environment or a research lab to produce hyperpolarized contrast agents on demand. The hyperpolarized solution is prepared in a fast, fully-automated, multi-step process including chemical reactions, polarization transfer and several purification steps. We develop our commercial products in close collaboration with a contract design and manufacturing partner while the process development as well as the design of test setups and prototypes is done in-house.

We offer a dynamic international working environment, with immense room for growth, that encourages personal initiative and open communication.
