Digital Energy Trading can't wait any longer, hence handle the Energy trading activities of the Group and act as the Group´s interface to the wholesale markets for Energy, Natural Gas and Emissions rights (EUA and CER).

Location:

The office is based in northern Germany. Working remotely is possible with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office.

Team Structure:

Current set up:
11 members, focusing separately on Power/ Gas/ P&
G Long Term Trading, Short Term Trading, Modeling, Trading Systems and Algorithmic Trading.

Reporting line:

You will report to the Head of Risk – Energy Trading.

Reason for Vacancy:

Existing team member gets promoted to Front Office.

Challenges:

Responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining the quantitative models and methods, more details as following:

  • Key contact and responsible person for all model-related issues in Risk Management
  • Collaborating closely with the Front Desks and the Analysis Team
  • Responsible for the MTM evaluation and risk measures of energy-related products like storages, options, take-or-pay contracts, and other flexibilities, as well as renewable products like PPA(Power Purchase Agreement)s and GoOs
  • Responsible for main risk KPIs for trades and portfolios
  • Responsible for documentation and quality assurance
  • Implement quant methods and models in our modern IT infrastructure, working closely with our DevOps Team
  • Evaluate and develop new trading strategies and complex products and improve our trading system
  • Enhancements and maintenance of report
  • Support fellows within the risk management team and other departments (e.G., the trading desks, the credit risk management team, etc.)

Your profile:

  • 1 - 4 years of professional experience in the Energy sector, preferably with a focus on Power/Energy Risk/Energy markets

*Junior level is possible, if your coding &
mindset are at the right level. But they prefer a bit of experience, unless you are very enthusiastic and hungry to learn

  • Degree in a highly quantitative subject (e.G., physics, mathematics, computer science, economics), or equivalent experience in the energy/ finance/ insurance sector
  • Profound usage of different risk models and methodologies with strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
  • You are eager to learn new skills and improve upon your existing proficiencies
  • You are well experienced in applying and implementing mathematical and statistical methods
  • Experience with reporting tools, preferably Microsoft Power BI
  • Ideally, you are already an expert in the energy business
  • Proficiency in ETRM systems, preferably Endur, is an advantage
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, German is NOT A MUST, but basic skills are required... FLUENCY is a PLUS
  • You are a reliable team player and can also work on your own

Salary:

€100k - €110k total compensation;
split by base:
€65k – €90k + bonus + fringe benefits (i.E. pension, extensive social and health benefits)

Hybrid work:

Hybrid work is absolutely possible (i.E. 2 days p/w in office). You can live in Hamburg/Berlin and travel or have a 2nd apartment in Bremen (40% tax benefit) or just live in Bremen (not a bad city at all…)

Interview process:

1st Interview is with the Head of Risk – Energy Trading;
more an introduction, go through your CV, the vacancy itself and the Group. Maybe a Risk Manager/Trader will join… but it will be more of a dialogue…

2nd Interview will be with the Risk Management Desk. Depending on your IT knowledge, one from the IT team will join to go more into the Technical side and knowledge of analytics and IT. Then the MD will join for 15 min. to get a feeling for the fit and the person, not technical.

3rd Interview:
a formality call with HR to explain the compensation and benefits.
