Your mission

We're looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer (m/f/d) to own the development of electrical subsystems for our prototypes and innovative products. You will drive the entire development cycle from the concept phase until the realization. For our in-house systems and prototypes, you will define concepts and specifications, implement the design and supervise the assembly and testing. You contribute to the entire development cycle of our products that are designed and manufactured in close collaboration with our product development partners.

Concept and system-level architecture

  • You are the expert for the electrical aspects in the development of our prototypes and products and define the overall system concept and architecture with other engineers
  • You develop the electrical concept and system-level architecture for our in-house systems and commercial products on a functional block level and define a control strategy
  • You work with mechanical and automation engineers to specify and select components for our systems and products

Design

  • You are responsible for designing the electrical subsystems and creating technical documentation such as schematics and wiring diagrams
  • You collaborate with automation engineers on PLC-controlled test setups, creating wiring diagrams for machine cabinets in EPLAN, defining system power requirements and selecting appropriate I/O modules for analog and digital signal processing
  • You design analog signal conditioning circuits for sensors and actuators using off-the-shelf components or custom-designed PCBs (in Altium Designer), e.G. to read out magnetic field sensors or to drive coils in the audio-frequency range
  • You simulate coils and magnets in COMSOL Multiphysics

Prototyping and testing

  • You create assembly documents and coordinate the prototype manufacturing with our engineers and technicians
  • You prepare a test plan and supervise the system characterization, testing and data analysis

Technology transfer and product development

  • You collaborate closely with our product development partner and provide technical expertise for all electrical topics throughout the design process of our commercial products
  • You write technology transfer documents and specify electrical requirements
  • You review design documents and test and verification reports

Your profile

  • Ph.D. / M.Sc / B.Sc in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years professional experience in a research environment or early-stage product development, ideally in the field of laboratory equipment or medical devices
  • Experienced in analog signal conditioning, data acquisition and system characterization
  • Skilled in devising creative solutions and working independently
  • Interdisciplinary mindset and passion for experimental and hands-on work
  • Experience in ECAD tools such as Altium Designer and EPLAN and FEM simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics are considered a plus

Why us?

  • Competitive compensation, based on base salary and stock options
  • Onsite work at state-of-the-art facilities with home-office opportunities
  • Key role in a highly advanced and fast-growing startup company
  • Ample opportunity for personal initiatives, openness to new ideas and room for considerable personal impact
  • Impactful product promoting better understanding and treatment of disease
  • International and dynamic team, from over 15 different nationalities
  • Enjoyable work atmosphere with an open-door and open communication mentality
  • Permanent employment contract, providing stability and long-term career growth opportunities
  • 30 vacation days and excellent work-life balance

About us

NVision is a quantum biotech startup based in Ulm, Germany, with Tier 1 investors from Silicon Valley, Europe, and Israel. We are just leaving stealth mode, moving from local R&
D to global commercialization and expansion.
We are developing a technology that will enable MRI-based imaging of real-time metabolism in the body, with tremendous potential for research and applications in oncology, cardiology, neurology and more. Our company brings together expertise in physics, chemistry, engineering and medicine, and we are collaborating with scientists and clinicians from top medical and research centers such as Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York, MD Anderson in Texas, Technical University of Munich, Cambridge University in the UK and more.
NVision is developing fast, robust and easy-to-use hyperpolarization technology for preclinical and clinical research in our Polaris product line. Those devices are placed close to an MRI scanner in a clinical environment or a research lab to produce hyperpolarized contrast agents on demand. The hyperpolarized solution is prepared in a fast, fully-automated, multi-step process including chemical reactions, polarization transfer and several purification steps. We develop our commercial products in close collaboration with a contract design and manufacturing partner while the process development as well as the design of test setups and prototypes is done in-house.

We offer a dynamic international working environment, with immense room for growth, that encourages personal initiative and open communication.
